920D Custom Shop Fender Strat Blaze Satin Gold Lincoln Brewster DiMarzio Area 58 Area 61
920D Custom Shop's latest offering is a tribute to Lincoln Brewster's killer custom shop '57 reissue gold strat. It comes equipped with
- Fender Vintage Locking Tuners
- Gold Satin Finish
- Parchment 1-Ply Pickguard
- DiMarzio Area 58 on the neck and middle pickup positions
- DiMarzio Area 61 on the bridge pickup position
The bottom tone control is assigned to the bridge pickup. The middle tone control is assigned to the neck pickup. The middle pickup has no tone control. There is a treble bleed mod on the volume control that keeps the guitar tone from becoming muddy when the volume is dialed down. The electronics are all top notch 250K CTS pots, CRL switch, and vintage style cloth covered wiring.
The guitar you are interested in purchasing was originally manufactured 78 miles south of San Diego California in Ensenada Mexico. However, the guitar undergoes a complete transformation at the 920D Custom Shop in Fort Smith Arkansas.
Neck specs are: 21 medium jumbo frets, 42mm nut, Modern C shaped profile, and 9.5 inch fretboard radius.
920D Custom Shop begins with a brand new Fender instrument that is taken out of the original factory sealed box. All electronics used in a 920D Custom Shop modified guitar are premium electronics and are of American origin whether they are from Seymour Duncan, DiMarzio, Lace, or Fender Custom Shop. The 920D Custom Shop uses top quality CRL switches and CTS potentiometers. The tuning machines on all 920D Custom Shop guitars and the bridge on most of our 920D Custom Shop guitars are also upgraded to premium Schaller, Fender, Planet Waves, or Babicz hardware.
The neck relief is adjusted, action is set to 1.25mm at the 12th fret, and the intonation is adjusted to A440 with a Petersen strobe tuner. Any fret sprout and high or low frets will be corrected before shipment. The completed guitars are then evaluated and all electronics are tested for proper functionality.
Our mission at the 920D Custom Shop is to build excellent guitars that outperform any other option at a half or a third of the cost.
Area 58 DP415
There are two major differences between a great vintage Strat pickup and an average one: treble response and dynamics. A great pickup is clear and bright, but not thin-sounding. A great one makes the sound jump out of the amp when you pick hard and drop way down when you play softly, and the tone varies when the string is picked at different spots. The best pickup we ve ever heard like this was from 1958, and that s what inspired the Area 58, with two major differences. Our pickup has way less magnet pull, and virtually no hum. The Area 58 has obvious similarities to the Virtual Vintage 2.1 it replaces, but there are several non-visible performance factors that have changed. Dynamic range and string definition are greatly increased, leading to improvements in both clean chord-playing and overdriven soloing. The Area 58 is very sensitive to small height adjustment differences: close to the strings produces a fatter, slightly compressed blues tone and further away yields crystal clean sounds. The final improvement is in noise reduction. All of the Virtual Vintage pickups have better hum cancellation than full-size humbuckers. Area 58 and Area 61 are even quieter.
Area 61 DP416
DiMarzio has been working on serious vintage single-coil design with no hum for twelve years. Our goal has always been to capture the best qualities of pickups we heard from the 1950s and early 60s. We ve played several pickups from the early 60s that had a unique tonality: they were steely, yet woody-sounding. Naturally, we wanted to nail this sound, and we wanted to do it with no hum and less magnet-pull. The Area 61 does it. It s good in all three positions. It s the perfect bridge pickup with a pair of Area 58 pickups if you want to go all the way from Nashville to Texas in one guitar. Over the last 10 years we ve gotten literally hundreds of requests from guitarists asking for the Texas blues sound. This sound is centered on single-coils from the early 1960s, but it s also based on heavy strings and strong hands. We can t change your strings or your hands, but the Area 61 captures the tonal bedrock this sound is based on. Like the Area 58, the Area 61 really responds to different pick attacks: played hard, it sounds louder and tougher than you d expect from a vintage pickup, but it cleans up immediately by picking softer or rolling down the volume control. And like the Area 58, its ability to cancel hum is superior to full-size humbuckers.
